Even if the day comes that every community in Africa is equipped with a functional primary healthcare center, that still wouldn’t be enough. One major challenge remains: sensitisation on the importance of taking personal responsibility for one’s own health. For primary healthcare in Africa to truly transform, the service delivery ratio must shift to 80% outreach and only 20% waiting for patients at the center—until enough awareness has been achieved. We also believe that 70% of healthcare efforts should go into education on how personal health works, with just 30% focused on treatment, for the foreseeable future.
